Is this a computer thing? Will a throttle controller or power commander help this? It’s not something I’ve ever felt before, with any non-CVT car and especially not with my sportster. It does the same thing if I wanna speed up in 5th or 4th, it’ll shoot up to 6/7k until the bike eventually gets up to speed, then I can almost feel the engine and transmission syncing up again. It almost feels like a CVT car, where the rpms will stick up there, while it feels like the trans catches up. Which in 6th would take a while, but in 3rd it’s a lot quicker. Rather than feel the engine struggle with the fuel delivery, the rpms will shoot up to 10k and sit there until I’m going fast enough to justify the rpms going higher. Now this is a far cry from my carbureted sportster, where if I’m in 3rd gear, depending on my speed, going wide open would bog the engine down and you’d feel it. If I were to throw the throttle wide open in 3rd gear, the rpms will shoot up like I’m in neutral, while the power slowly kicks in. Coming from an 01 sportster 1200, this bike has been a learning curve. The problem I have is the throttle response. The high rpms will really get the blood pumping. The speed is slow to kick in during low rpms, which is expected with my bike producing crappy torque. But the gixxus forums are largely dead, along with the naked bike section of this forum, so I figured I’d have better luck here. a naked bike amongst the gixxer community.
